Sunday the forth exibition day in Hannover. Concearning the weather we were a little more lucky than the day before and a shining sun spent us some warmth. Today again we could see the clear trend in the direction of mobility. Notebooks flood the market and pocket-PCs are more and more coming. Desktop systems vanish slowly.. |

Asus is one of the biggest in the Notebook business since years and has expanded it's already huge range of products. Asus investes a lot in high-quality design good equipment and components. The target clients are obviously in the business arena. Asus finds more and more usa for the new Mobilprocesso "Turion 64" from AMD and the highglaredisplays called „glar type“should provide better visual quality. The PocketPC series presents new modles and introduces also a new Smartphone. Highly interesting is, that it makes a lot sence to Asus to invest in the field of barebones and wants to win cusomers with the new S-Presso PC. The S-Presso is available in different colours and in two configurations: with or without touchscreenfunktion on the frontpane, both with socket 775 fpr Intel Pentium 4. The price for the Deluxvariation with touchscreen and remotecontrol should be around 300EUR. A version for AMD Athlon 64 is in the planning process.

Mitac is one of the big OEM/ODM Notebookproducers, that are unfortunately not represented in Europe on an own lable. Besides ordinary Notebooks Mitac builds models for the military and heavy industry. This models are waterproof to a certain point shock resistant – unfortunately really expensive. Furthermore pocket-PCs, Handhelds and MediaCenters are produced.

AMD predented us only the Turion64 processor, the counterpart from AMD to the Pentium M with Centrino. Turion has a very low power consumtion and is adressed with 64bit and has all the advantages that we know from the AMD Athlon64 processors. With a TDP of 20-35Watt depending on the model, the power wattage is so low that the notebook accumulators can cover more than 4h. Contrary to the Pentium M the Turion64 is not tied to a special chipset and can be combined with different chipsets from nVidia, Ati, Uli,SiS, and Via. The customer himself should be able to decide which chipset and Wlan modul works best for him. Notebookproducers have in this way the opportunity to offer different models in different priceclasses. If AMD promotes the Turion with good advertismentcampaignes it could be a great success and the breakthrough for AMD in the mobil segment.

Lex doesn't really offer something new. They stick to little mainboard with Via C3 processors and the outmoded Via PLE133 chipset. A Pentium M mainboard stands out. A new case in anthraziblack enables the passive cooling of this mainboards with Via C3 prosessors.

Mio is a partner of Mitac and produces handhelds with integrated GPS receiver for the OEM/ODM market.

The swiss Embedded Spezialist Digital Logic has won the iF Product Design Award 2005 for his Microspaces Entertainment Center. The system was announced last year for 6000EUR. Meanwhile the system is equiped with a Pentium M system is passive cooled completely and costed only 3000EUR inclusive a noble TFT panel with remotecontrol. The front is motorised and opens at the touch of a button. A amall Embedded mainboard with 10x10cm size has even enough place for a Pentium M, PCI-Express and 7.1 DTS Sound.

FIC has new MediaCentre units in their programm. The Condor Barebone is since about a year known and was extended by a scket 939. Modles for AMD Athlon 64 should be on-hand soon. The Kondow is easyly to be opened and enabled a quick mounting of components. The new notebooks, tablets and PMP-Player with AMD Alchemy processors are exclusive for the OEM/ODM market and are distributed in Europe from other companies.

Clevo is an other giant among the Notebookproducers that are solemly sold for OEM/ODM. Gericom and Terra are their biggest clients. A huge notebook with two slim-line floppies is offered as a desktop replacement. Highly interresting was a Flat-panel computer in WideScreen format with slapable keyboard. The design is really terrific and noble, a very nice apparatus.

In Hall 2 we have found a manufacturer who is specialized in the production of tablets. On the whole CeBIT exibition we could not find one manufacturer beside this one, that is investing in only this segment, which is -sofar- not very lucrative. The tablets where very nice, even though a little tick and very expensive. We would have expected a lighter weight than 2,3kg. The new is designed for model Pentium M and has a high resolution display which is punch resistent.
