We just have to repeat the words from our previous reviews. VIA C7 based systems do not force us to complain about the speed of the installation process of Windows XP, as well as the loading OS and office-like activity in it. Drivers have been installed correctly from the supplied CD. Standby and hibernate modes works properly. A good news for the HDTV-set users – you can attach it to video outputs of this board and enjoy native HDTV (including 720i and 1080i) resolutions because of the onboard HDTV encoder. And the bad news – you can not see HD video saved in the compressed formats (like used on the HD DVD and Blu-Ray discs), the CPU too weak and the chipset unable to help.

The Installation of Kubuntu Linux worked without troubles. Unfortunately audio and 3D-acceleration leave unsupported but you can surf through the Web at least. Thanks to the LAN support! The standard package comes without power saving capabilities, you have to install kpowersave component by yourself but it is not very easy for beginners. In newer Distributions like 6.10 Edgy or 7.04 Feisty the power saving problem is solved.
